Full Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions prevail in the event of any conflict or inconsistency with any other communications, including advertising or promotional materials.

Entry instructions are deemed to form part of the Terms and Conditions and by participating, all entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by the Terms and Conditions. Please retain a copy for your information. Please note nothing in these Terms restricts the participant’s statutory rights as a consumer and if required advice can be obtained from a Trading Standards Office or Citizens Advice Bureau for further information relating to these statutory rights.     Eligibility

  1. This promotion is open to United Kingdom (England, Wales and Scotland and Northern Ireland) residents aged 18 or over, excluding employees and their immediate families of Mastercard and/ or McLaren, their subsidiaries, other group companies, their agents, or anyone else professionally connected with this competition.
  2. The promotion will run from 11/06/2025, closes 23:59 BST on 16/06/2025, or until 150 valid entries have been received, whichever is first (the “Closing Date”) inclusive (“Promotional Period”). All entries received outside this period will be invalid.
  3. To enter the competition, entrants must visit mstr.cd/JuniorRaceEngineer and send an email to JuniorRaceEngineer@theacademypr.com with their full name and a video (up to 60 seconds) of their child (aged 9-15) demonstrating why they should win the experience of being McLaren’s Junior Race Engineer. Videos must not feature any other persons [who can be identified based on the footage] than the child. Videos must be supplied as downloadable link in the body of the email as an MP4 file via a secure cloud-based transfer service (e.g. WeTransfer). Entrants (and children aged 13 – 15) must also complete the Photo and Video Consent Form available on mstr.cd/JuniorRaceEngineer and attach this to their email submission. Entrants must also provide a contact telephone number and confirm that they are 18+ and live in the United Kingdom.
  4. By submitting an entry to the competition, you acknowledge that Mastercard will process personal information about you and your child as described in the Competition Privacy Notice.
  5. Only one entry and one prize per person is permitted during the Promotional Period. Entries (bulk or otherwise) made from trade, consumer groups or third parties will not be accepted. If it becomes apparent that a participant is using computer(s) to circumvent this condition by, for example, the use of ‘script’, ‘brute force’ or any other automated means, that person’s entries will be all disqualified and the prize award will be void.
  6. Entrants who do not give correct details or those who make an entry on someone else’s behalf will be disqualified, at the Promoter’s discretion.
  7. Numerous factors outside the control of the Promoter may interfere with the operation of the email address. The Promoter does not therefore guarantee continuous uninterrupted or secure access to the email address.
  8. Incomplete, illegible, invalid or misdirected entries will not be accepted. Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of delivery. The Promoter takes no responsibility for entries delayed, incomplete or lost due to technical reasons or otherwise.
  9. No purchase necessary, however, internet access is required.
  10. Prize and Fulfilment

  11. Entries must be received during the Promotional Period. All entries will be judged by a panel (with at least one independent judge) who will evaluate each submission based on the following criteria:
  12. Passion for Racing – score out of 20

        •    Does the entry convey the child’s passion and enthusiasm for F1?

    Creativity and Originality – score out of 20

        •    Does the entry include original ideas?

        •    Are ideas presented in a unique or inventive way?

    Personality and Authenticity – score out of 20

         •    Is the message authentic and personal?


  13. The judging panel will take place on 17/06/2025. The judging panel will consist of one representative from Mastercard, one representative from The Academy (Mastercard’s agency) and one independent judge. Each entry will be rated out of a score of 60. The judging panel will collectively decide on their top THREE finalists, which will then be judged by a representative from McLaren. The McLaren judge will decide on the final winner.
  14. The winner will be notified via the telephone number provided in their submission by 18/06/2025. Entrants are encouraged to monitor their phone connections during this time in case they are the winner. A follow up email will be sent to the email address used for their submission.
  15. The winner will have 24 hours from receiving the follow up email to accept their prize by following the instructions provided in the winning email notification, confirming they are 18+, their child is aged 9-15 and they are both available on the specified dates. Failure to do this, or if the winner is found to be ineligible, or rejects their prize, will result in the prize being forfeited and the Promoter will award the prize to a reserve winner selected at the same time as the original winner. The process will be repeated until the prize is claimed or until 22/06/2025. The decision of the Promoter is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  16. Mastercard’s agency The Academy will contact the winner to commence fulfilment of their prize after valid claim and the completion of any verification process.
  17. The winner’s full name, their child’s full name, winner’s email address will be shared with McLaren for the purpose of facilitating the delivery of the experience. The Experience will be delivered by McLaren. By entering the promotion, you acknowledge that the personal information shared by Mastercard with McLaren for this purpose will be processed as described in McLaren’s Privacy Policy available here: www.mclaren.com/racing/privacy-policy/. Please ensure you review the Privacy Policy before entering the competition.
  18. 1 x prize available to win, for one adult and one child (aged 9 - 15), consisting of:
    • A visit to the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey on 24/06/2025 for a two-hour workshop with a McLaren racing engineer
    • An exclusive VIP experience in the week leading up to the British Grand Prix (pick up from Milton Keynes station)
    • £400 prepaid card to cover travel and accommodation
  19. All other costs and expenses in taking up the prize, including but not limited to, spending money as required, shall be borne solely by the winner. The prize is as stated and nothing else is included.
  20. There is no cash or other alternative for the prize in whole or in part except that in the event of circumstances outside of its control, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize, or part of the prize, with one of equal or greater value at the choosing and discretion of the Promoter.
  21. The prize is date and event specific and cannot be transferred or postponed to a later date. Prize must be taken on 24/06/2025 and on a specific date in the week leading up to the British Grand Prix (exact date to be confirmed).. Entrants should ensure that they are available during this period in case they are the winner. Failure to be able to attend will result in the prize being forfeited and the Promoter will award the prize to an alternate winner. If an alternate winner cannot be found prior to the event date, the Promoter will dispose of the prize without liability to the winner.
  22. If fulfilment or any element of this competition will be delayed or affected due to government restrictions, and/or those outside of the reasonable control of the Promoter, all entrants affected will be contacted by the Promoter and kept updated of any unavoidable changes to the promotional dates, revised fulfilment dates or prize.
  23. Failure to comply with all of the above may result in the prize being forfeited and the Promoter may at its absolute discretion award the prize to an alternative winner at Mastercard’s discretion without liability to the winner. The decision of the Promoter is final.
  24. If the date of the experience takes place on a school day, the child’s school must be informed, and special consent must be given. Approval by the child’s school is by no means guaranteed by the Promoter. The Promoter reserves the right to request a letter of consent as necessary before the prize is formally awarded.
  25. Other Important Information

  26. If the Experience is cancelled for reasons outside of the Promoter’s control or for reasons related to health and safety, without any liability to the Promoter or any obligation to arrange an alternative prize, there will be no rescheduling this element of the prize.
  27. The Promoter will not accept responsibility for hotels or transport companies being unavailable, withdrawn or amended. In the event of this, the Promoter will, as a gesture of good will only, endeavour to find a suitable alternative.
  28. All and services provided to the winner will be provided subject to the Terms and Conditions of each such provider. Neither the Promoter nor their agents will have any liability in relation thereto, and any dispute arising from these services must be taken up with such providers.
  29. The Promoter and its agents do not accept any liability for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrant entering the competition or as a result of accepting the prize or any element of the prize. Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter and its agents are not liable or responsible for any injury, loss or damage to persons or property arising from or caused by the weather, acts of God, war, accident, pandemic or epidemic and any related government action or any other government restrictions or regulations, or from an act or omission of any individual or condition beyond its control.
  30. The winner and their child take part in the prize at their own risk and to the fullest extent allowed by law. The Promoter will have no liability in relation to the conduct of the winner or their child, nor in connection with any circumstances outside its control with respect to the prize once fulfilled. The winner and their child are subject to the policies and Terms and Conditions of any and all third parties involved in the fulfilment of the prize. Any Terms and Conditions applicable to the prize have been provided to the fullest extent possible.
  31. Any personal data requested directly by any third parties for the purpose of this experience will be solely governed by their respective Privacy Policies and practices. Entrants should exercise caution and carefully consider the necessity of such disclosures before sharing their personal data.
  32. The winner is responsible for the behaviour of themselves and their child whilst taking the prize. The Promoter reserves the right in its absolute discretion to exclude the winner and/or their child from participation in any aspect of the prize if any party fails to comply with the directions of the Promoter or any companies associated with the prize or if the winner and/or their child act in a manner that is dangerous to themselves or to the public or is, in the opinion of the Promoter, anti-social in any manner or which causes a disturbance or nuisance to others.
  33. The Experience Organiser reserves the right to remove the winner and/or child who is not acting in adherence with venue regulations.
  34. By participating in the competition, the entrants licence and grants the promoter an exclusive, royalty free, perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable and sub-licensable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish and display the drawing submitted for any purpose in any media, without compensation, restriction on use, attribution or liability, including, in particular, sharing the picture of the drawing via Mastercard’s social media channels. Entrants agree not to assert any moral rights in relation to such use where the moral rights in respect of the content are theirs to assert. Entrants warrant that their entry shall not have been previously published or exploited in any part and that the materials contain no copyright materials, are their original works, have not been copied, in whole or in part, from any third party and they have full authority to grant these rights. The model and the rights to it will belong to Mastercard.
  35. It is a condition of entry that the winner and the participating child agree to take part in publicity accompanying or resulting from the competition without further recompense. This may include but is not limited to photographs and video footage.
  36. General

  37. The Promoter will make available the prize winner’s surname and county of residence upon request by emailing JuniorRaceEngineer@theacademypr.com, within 3 months after the Closing Date of this promotion. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse any or all such requests. Entrants can object to disclosure, or request that disclosure be limited in scope by contacting JuniorRaceEngineer@theacademypr.com. The Promoter may nevertheless disclose the information to the Advertising Standards Authority if required to do so to indicate that a valid prize award took place.   38. It is the responsibility of each entrant to provide correct, up-to-date details when entering the competition and accepting the prize. The Promoter cannot be held responsible for the winner failing to supply accurate information which affects prize acceptance or prize fulfilment.
  39. Sale, transfer or exchange of any part of the prize is strictly prohibited. Any attempt to sell, transfer or exchange a prize will result in the prize being withdrawn by the Promoter and the prize will be declared null and void unless otherwise agreed in writing by the Promoter.
  40. The Promoter will not be held responsible for the winner and/or their child not taking advantage of their prize due to health or any other reason.
  41. The Promoter has no control over internet or communication networks and is not liable for any problems associated with them due to traffic congestion, technical malfunction or otherwise. The Promoter will not be held liable to any individual for any fraud committed by any third party nor for any event beyond its control including, but not limited to, user error and any network, computer, hardware or software failures of any kind which may restrict, delay or prevent a participant’s entry to the promotion.
  42. The Promoter and its associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense or damage which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with this promotion or accepting or using the prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (including personal injury, death and fraud) in which case that liability is limited to the total cash value of the prize as at the date of entry.
  43. The Promoter reserves the right to verify all entries and the winner including but not limited to asking for proof of address and ID (passport or equivalent) and to refuse to award the prize or withdraw prize entitlement where there are reasonable grounds to believe there has been a breach of these Terms and Conditions, the spirit of the promotion or any instructions forming part of this promotion’s entry requirements or otherwise where a participant has gained unfair advantage in participating in the promotion or won using fraudulent means.
  44. If for any reason any aspect of this competition is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other cause beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, the Promoter may in its sole discretion cancel, modify or suspend the promotion or invalidate any affected entries. If an act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter and which prevents the Promoter from complying with these Terms and Conditions (including but not limited to global or regional health crises, weather conditions, fire, flood, strike, hurricane, industrial dispute, war, terrorist activity, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, epidemic, pandemic, famine, plague or other natural calamities and acts of God), the Promoter will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligation but will always endeavour to minimise the effect to entrants in order to avoid undue disappointment.
  45. If any of these clauses should be determined to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable then it shall be severed and deleted from these Terms and Conditions and the remaining clauses shall survive and remain in full force and effect.
  46. These Terms and Conditions (and any non-contractual issues which arise out of or in connection with them) will be governed by relevant English law with any disputes as to the meaning of these Terms and Conditions subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts unless you live in another part of the UK, in which case your local courts will have jurisdiction.
  47. The Promoter will only use the personal details supplied for the administration of the promotion and for no other purpose. You acknowledge that the Promoter will pass such information to its third-party agency The Academy, solely for the purposes of administering the promotion.
