Mastercard Europe SA, its affiliates and other entities within the Mastercard’s group of companies (“Mastercard”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) respect your privacy.

This Privacy Notice describes how Mastercard uses information about you and your child ('Personal Information') when you enter the Mastercard and McLaren Junior Race Engineer Competition (‘Competition’), promoted by Mastercard Europe Services Limited.

It describes the types of Personal Information we collect and why, whom we share it with and what we do to keep it safe. It also informs you about the rights and choices you and your child have to your Personal Information and how to contact us if you have questions or need support.

Whereas this notice is addressed to the parent entering the Competition (‘you’) it is also intended for the child featured in the video entered in the Competition.

1. Personal Information We May Collect

We collect the following Personal Information from you if you enter the Competition.

  • Your name and the name of your child.
  • Your child’s age and confirmation that you are 18 or older and live in the United Kingdom.
  • Your email address and phone number.
  • The video you enter of your child demonstrating why they should win the experience of being McLaren’s Junior Race Engineer, including any other Personal Information shared in the video. Please note that videos must not feature other individuals in addition to your child.
  • A signed form confirming you are happy for us to post your child’s video on social and in online/print news media (and confirmation from your child that they also consent to such use if they are aged 13 – 15).
  • Identity verification documentation if requested to confirm the identities of you and your child.
  • If your entry wins:
    • any food restrictions you want us to know about.
    • a letter of authorization from your child’s school, if required to ensure they can attend the prize events.
    • information we may need about your travel arrangements to the prize events to make practical arrangements.
    • photos and videos of you and your child at the prize events, and any other Personal Information reasonably requested for publicity purposes as described in the Terms and Conditions for the Competition.

Please note that we can only consider your entry if you give the information we ask for when you enter the Competition, as described in the Terms and Conditions for the Competition. We may also be unable to formally award the prize if you do not share a letter of authorization from your child’s school that they can attend the prize events.

2. How We Use Your Personal Information

If you enter the Competition, we may use Personal Information about you and your child as explained below.

Consider your entry and choose the winner.

  • You consented to the use of your child’s Personal Information. (If your child is 13 – 15, we also ask for consent from your child that we can use their video and name as described in the Photo and Video Consent Form.)
  • The data use is necessary for accepting your entry in the Competition based on the contract we have with you when you accept the Terms and Conditions of the Competition by emailing your video.

Contact you to verify the identity of you and your child and confirm that you signed the Photo and Video Consent Form. Comply with applicable laws or as requested by any judicial process, law enforcement or governmental agency having or claiming jurisdiction over Mastercard.

  • The data use is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation or other regulatory obligations.

Contact you to collect any additional information we need for prize delivery. This may include information about food restrictions, travel arrangements and authorization from your child’s school that they can be absent from school to attend the prize events, which we may share with the Experience Organiser.

  • The data use is necessary for complying with the Terms and Conditions of the Competition (i.e. our contract with you).
  • We, or a third party, have a legitimate interest in using your Personal Information to arrange for prize delivery and meet our promotional objectives of the Competition.

Publish your child’s winning video and name and any photos or video footage of you and your child that we capture at the prize events (and any other related information about you that is reasonable and suitable for publicity purposes) on social media or in online/print news media.

  • You consented to the use of your child’s Personal Information. (If your child is 13 – 15, we also ask for consent from your child that we can use their video and name as described in the Photo and Video Consent Form.)

Enforce the Competition Terms and Conditions or as necessary to establish, exercise and defend legal rights.

  • We, or a third party, have a legitimate interest in using your Personal Information to arrange for prize delivery and meet our promotional objectives of the Competition.

Operate and evaluate the Competition.

  • We, or a third party, have a legitimate interest in using your Personal Information to arrange for prize delivery and meet our promotional objectives of the Competition.

3. How We May Share Your Personal Information

We may share Personal Information about you and your child with:

  • Mastercard’s headquarters in the U.S. and other companies Mastercard’s group of companies and subsidiaries.
  • The Experience Organiser McLaren Services Limited.
  • Any companies that help us with the Campaign, such as our marketing agency.
  • Companies that give us technical services to accept entries and view them.
  • Social media platforms if we publish your video on our social media accounts (which are publicly accessible by anyone in the world).
  • Any comments or posts by other social media users about the winning video. (We monitor our social media feeds to remove any inappropriate comments).
  • Any online or print media that want to write about the Competition.
  • Your child, if they ask to exercise their rights under applicable data protection laws, as necessary and appropriate under applicable data protection laws.
  • Third parties if we sell or transfer our business or assets.
  • Anyone who asks us to share the surname and county of the winner under the CAP Code or other applicable laws.

4. Your Rights and Choices

UK privacy laws give you the right to:

  • Access the Personal Information we hold about you, correct it, restrict or object to its processing, or request its deletion.
  • Receive the Personal Information you provided to us to transmit it to another company.
  • Withdraw any consent you have given.
  • File a complaint with your Supervisory Authority.

5. Data Transfers

Mastercard is a global business. We may transfer your Personal Information to the United States and other countries which the UK considers not to have adequate standards for data protection. If we make a transfer to a country without adequacy status, we adhere to alternative transfer mechanisms approved by the UK Information Commissioner and/or Secretary of State, such as our Binding Corporate Rules or standard data protection clauses.

We have established and implemented Binding Corporate Rules (“BCRs”) that have been recognised by EEA data protection authorities as providing an adequate level of protection to the Personal Information we process globally. 6. How We Protect Your Personal Information

We have put in place technical and organizational security measures to protect your Personal Information and only keep it for a limited period.

We delete all Competition entries and any additional data we have collected in relation to the Campaign, after the Competition has ended and the prize has been delivered. Please note, however, that any videos or information about the Competition that we have published on our social media accounts or shared for publication on other online or print media, will remain available online and in print also after the Competition.

The security of your Personal Information is important to Mastercard. We are committed to protecting the information we collect. We maintain reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect the Personal Information we collect against accidental, unlawful or unauthorised destruction, loss, alteration, access, disclosure or use.
