2011 saw the beginning of a three year relationship between MasterCard and Southbank Centre, with MasterCard partnering as lead sponsor of Southbank Centre’s summer festivals. Southbank Centre, Europe's largest and most vibrant centre for the arts, came alive with the Festival of Britain celebrations from April to September 2011, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the original 1951 festival.
As well as receiving an exclusive Southbank Centre Membership offer and fantastic promotions across many of the bars, restaurants and shops in the area, MasterCard cardholders were also invited to a range of unique events. From private views of Tracey Emin’s major exhibition at the Hayward Gallery, Love is What You Want, to the unforgettable Vintage at Southbank Centre, during which MasterCard hosted its very own VIP Lounge complete with make-up artists and dance lessons, cardholders were able to access the best that the Festival of Britain had to offer.
